Ruminations

...don't be satisfied with stories, how things
have gone with others.  Unfold
your own myth, without complicated explanation,
so everyone will understand the passage,
We have opened you.         (Coleman Barks, trans.)

Again, a passage from Rumi that reflects one of the most basic of Unitarian Universalist perspectives.  We each gather together as a community to dedicate ourselves to unfolding our own myths, and to support others in this work as well.  We do this through everything we do: worship, coffee hour, covenant groups, religious education, social justice work.  What? you may ask.  Coffee hour?  Yep.  And potlucks and parties and every time we gather together.  That is because we also recognize that this unfolding is a process that is continual, ongoing.  As long as we live, we learn and grow - learn more about ourselves and others, and grow in that knowledge.  I cannot imagine it happening any other way.
