Music

First Unitarian Church has a long history of musical excellence. Legendary conductor, Robert Shaw, was music director of the church during the 1960s when he was Conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus. The music program at that time included an organist/harpsichordist, string quartet and professional choir with frequent chamber music guests. Marcellene Hawk continued the tradition during her 33 year tenure as music director. Annual Bach concerts with choir and guest musicians were features of the church's music program during those years.

Current Music Director, Fern Jennings, coordinates a music program that includes The Chancel Choir and Women's Ensemble with regular chamber music offerings by church members and outside professionals. Other types of music such as Jazz or Folk are represented throughout the year.
