Bach: Art of the Fugue

Fugue as exciting as Opera?

Hear renowned Bach scholar and keyboardist, First Church’s Music Director Emerita, Marcellene Hawk Mayhall, play Bach’s Are of the Fugue on the fortepiano in our Sanctuary on January 24 at 4:00 pm. Based on analysis of the little-known hand written manuscript, Ms Mayhall will both perform and discuss a radically faster-than-traditional interpretation of a masterwork that is alternatively sublime, virtuosic, dramatic, and even humorous. A free-will offering will be accepted and you can greet Marcellene at a reception following the concert
