Sunday Morning Programs

Our program and extracurricular themes are both timely and timeless.  We are committed to the study of Unitarian Universalism, Jewish and Christian heritages, world religions, and the prophetic visions and actions of our foremothers and forefathers.  With these themes, we weave contemporary issues and opportunities to work for social justice.

Young People's Worship Service

Worship provides an opportunity to celebrate and explore the mysteries of life and to experience and reflect on their connections within their religious community and to the universe.

Our young people's worship is enhanced by music, quiet meditation, stories, singing and sharing. Experiences include worship with the congregation in the Sanctuary and with other classes in the Worship Center.

Overview of Sunday Morning Classes

Nursery

Our youngest children are cared for in the Crib Room during the Sunday morning worship service.

Toddler

Story Time uses picture book stories and related art activities to illustrate themes such as honesty, love, trust, family, and respect for nature.

Preschool (three-four year olds)

We Are Many, We Are One encourages preschool children to be comfortable with each other and with being in our congregational home.  Children begin the process of appreciating how each of us is wonderfully different.

Kindergarten

Experiences With The Web of Life introduces our children to the good earth we live on, with lots of hands-on activities.  Children continue learning to place themselves in relation to their families as well as the wonderful, mysterious natural world around them.

First/Second Grade

Being at Home cultivates the understanding children have of themselves as being at home in their families, their bodies, their congregation, and their world.

Third Grade

Holidays and Holy Days gives our third graders a hands-on introduction to religious festivals from a wide variety of religious traditions.

Fourth/Fifth Grade

Timeless Themes is an introduction to stories from Hebrew and Christian scriptures as religious literature central to Western culture, exploring such themes as jealousy, forgiveness and healing.
See calendar to view what your child will be discussing in class.

Sixth and Seventh Grades

Over two years, our World Religions programs increases understanding of major world religious traditions.  We cover Islam, Christianity, and Judaism in one year and other major traditions in the alternating years.

Eighth Grade

For youth in eighth grade, we offer a Coming of Age program.  Each young person in this program spends time growing into deeper community with others in the class, reflecting deeply on her or his own personal beliefs, and writing a personal statement of beliefs.  In May, the young people have a chance to share their beliefs with the whole congregation in a Sunday morning worship service.

High School

Thinking the Web  encourages our high school youth to consider tough moral questions within the framework of our Unitarian Universalist principles and sources.
